Utagawa Hiroshige II or Shigenobu (1826-1869) was a Japanese woodblock print artist of the Edo-period and a student of Utagawa Hiroshige. Like Utagawa Kunisada and his teacher, he was a member of the Utagawa-school, where his first name stems from. Temporarily, Kunisada and Hiroshige II worked on woodblock prints together, like on the series “Pride of Edo”. During this cooperation, Hiroshige II created the landscapes while Kunisada focused on the people and characters. Additionally in his later years, Hiroshige II painted tea chests, kites, and lanterns.
