Arthur Illies (1870-1952) was a German painter and graphic artist of the art nouveau period. He took several courses in sketching nudes as well as animals. He then moved to the periphery of Hamburg to be able to work outside and use nature as inspiration. In 1894, Illies joined the “Hamburger Künstlerverein“ and moved to the Alstertal with Ernst Eitner, where they worked outdoors together.
