Henrik Hold (born 1973) is heavily influenced by Vilhelm Hammershoi. As a magician of light, Hold creatively plays with the contrast of bright and dim, sharp and blurred. It often remains a mystery whether his sceneries are lit by the sun, the moon, or an artificial light source. His works are always devoid of actual humans, yet their presence and influence on the world portrayed can be sensed, felt. Hold manages to create fascinating moments of silence. A silence that lasts.
